“Life would not give up, even if it could not flourish” Carl Rogers
Born and raised in the East Midlands into a working class family, I graduated from The University of Manchester with a B.A. (Hons) degree in Combined Studies in Arts…and no idea of what I wanted to do with the rest of my life or where I was on my own personal journey! After aimlessly drifting for many years, and two serious and severe episodes of depression, I worked as a photojournalist for twelve years.
Through the experience of my own personal therapy I decided to change my career and trained to become a therapeutic counsellor at the University of Derby (Buxton). I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within the ethical and professional guidelines outlined by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice: www.bacp.co.uk
I am also a freelance writer and contributor for Positive News: www.positivenews.org.uk
My interests include music (playing and writing), writing, literature, films and theatre, photography, walking and cycling, esoteric philosophy and mysticism, paganism, shamanic practice (I am not a shaman), earth magic, alternative lifestyles and therapies, the natural world and the environment.
